I ordered one from LL Bean and figured that since both the belt and shoe color was listed as brown that they would be the same shade,but that's not the case. The belt is a very dark brown. I'll be really appreciative of any help as I haven't really gotten to enjoy my shoes yet.

I have two Alden belts - one is reddish-brown to go with my Alden blucher mocs, the other is a light brown that goes with my weatherproof bluchers. (Yes, I like bluchers. And I'm voting for Cloris Leachman on Dancing With the Stars.)

Both would probably need to be ordered, even from a men's shop that carries Alden. But at least you'd be able to see a pair of shoes that are precisely the same color and know what you're getting.

Option #2 is to go to a shoe store that only carries one particular brand - Cole-Haan, Johnston & Murphy, Bostonian, Allen Edmonds... they would be more likely to carry a range of belts in unusual colors, since they have a sense of obligation to the company.

Bluchers are so informal that matching shades, or wearing a dress belt, is pointless.

He's also not spelling "y'all" correctly, but I wasn't going to say anything...

I'd never wear a dress belt with mine. The one I have is all leather with a brass buckle and is clearly made as a casual belt to coordinate with the shoes.

From now on I'll be sure to go through and correct any typing mistakes made in haste. I have always thought surcingle belts to be more for summer. I am just looking for a casual belt that is remotely close to the color of the shoes.

I'm not the one speaking out against the horrors of leather belts with casual shoes. :icon_smile: The closest thing I have to a surcingle belt is a stretchy knit one in light brown that I wear with my bucs. Because a suede belt would be silly.

But I've lived in Georgia long enough to know that one risks being branded a carpetbagger for spelling it "ya'll."
