Gentlemen,

I just purchased a navy nailhead 1818 suit at Brooks Brothers in their Saxxon wool .....I don’t own any other suits in this fabric, and have no real idea of how casual or formal it’s considered. I probably already have too many blue suits, but the nailhead fabric intrigued me and the color seems different enough from the other suits I have in the closet. At least online, which doesn’t mean much

Are these considered more casual suits because of the nailhead wool?

Can these be worn year round ?

This was a online purchase, so I don’t have the suit yet, but I do have other BB suits in the same fit and size, so this should work for me, I hope.

Nailhead is slightly less formal than a solid suit, but hardly so. You can wear it just as you would wear any other navy or grey suit, but you need to make sure you don't pair it with shirts or ties that have small patterns like the nailhead.
+1!

Nailheads are among my favorite choices for day-to-day business wear. They look like a solid, but more interesting, from more than 10 feet, or so, and are easy to accessorize given Matt's cautions.

They can be worn year round if the cloth weight is appropriate to your climate.

Thanks for your replies!

Suit came in today. Love the lightweight year round nailhead suit .....Fit is as perfect as can be for a BB OTR suit, except for one detail; the trousers need to be let out just a bit at the thighs. Just like a 1/4 inch. It does not look tight at all, but I do have muscular legs and that bit should help. Either I have been hitting legs too hard or B.B. tapered the regent legs just a bit....as a matter of fact the trousers are a Size 34 , and I happen to have a Fitzgerald suit where the pants are 32 and slightly looser at the thighs.
