Hello Gents,

I've been an avid buyer of Barker's Jude boots. Since they are no longer available, I am looking for a leather boot without wingtip, but with some crafted brogue motif. I've been looking around recently, and there seems to be very few good dress boots with a rubber sole. I am looking for any help on recommendations.

Allen Edmonds has their Higgins Mill boots discounted $150 during an ongoing sale that started yesterday. I'm not sure how long the prices will last, but the Higgins Mill boots are comfortable on the foot, provide stable, secure footing and they are pretty durable...they will be in your rotation for quite some time.

What about the Yeossal Bartley? The GMTO allows lots of adjustments (last, leather, etc.) and you can add a Vibram sole or go Danite if you wan ta chunkier look. Of course, you won't get them until Winter, but for next Fall? ;-)

Just bought a pair of Allen Edmonds Nomad chkkaas and a pair of Dubarry of Ireland gore tex chelsea boots with a serious tread for winter wear. AE were heavily discounted and the Dubarry are excellent winter messy weather boots. Both accomodate my orthotics and are excellent fits.

Any number of Alden options, especially the makeups from smaller retailers. Avoid Allen Edmonds...the lure of deep discounts will be rewarded with frustration from dealing with their atrocious quality and the subsequent return/exchange/refund dance.

When it comes to value in a smart and serviceable tall boot, Lof & Tung from Skoaktiebolaget (referenced in posts above) is tough to beat, along with Carlos Santos (available from a number of retailers, including Herring).

This Galway-esque pair from Skoak would already be inbound to me if it didn't closely replicate existing pairs:

Easily one of the most compelling GMTOs ever - tremendous value in a hand-welted boot, and near limitless customization of models, lasts and materials. I am presently incapacitated by indecision, but I will be ordering something.
