Not expecting a lotta Likes for this, but there's camo and there's camo and the colors on this one remind me of the raccoon's birthday party we held in the forest last fall, it's got the cinched ankles for keeping out the crickets and it's all cotton and part of the Levi's offering called Denizen of which my mud one is featured in the current thread whine about Topsiders. Camo pants are especially useful if you want to be invisible below the waist and I'm pretty self conscious down there with my pole vaulter quads. This pair is new-to-me, no choice, Levi's doesn't offer this color pattern any longer and I wanted it bad. A pine forest beauty, not all camo's for hunting or storming the Capitol, sometimes it's just for being compatible with sprawling on a fallen log and listening to the woodsy silence while cherishing your own.

Peak, your prose is always a delight, but this time you’ve managed to top yourself.

And this part—“sprawling on a fallen log”—is pure poetry.

“Sprawling on a fallen log and listening to the woodsy silence while cherishing your own.” Exquisite.

Below, corduroy shirt from Pendleton. Not Good Pendleton of pleasant memory, Bad Pendleton that Good Pendleton has become, selling clothes made from stuff other than what can be yanked off a sheep's back and making it somewhere across the RIo Grande. But the shirt below was cyber fondled not because it was from Pendleton, but in spite of it, it's the corduroy part that got searched, then this came up and was Like Listed, but only to mull since it would break the BCB oath of shirt buying: the Brotherhood of Cheap Bastards, fifteen bucks max, I'm a founder. Seller wanted twenty. Outta sight, outta mind.

Bur a short time ago an offer lights up my screen. Nine bucks!!! Nine bucks, imagine. I pay that for toilet paper (granted it's a 96 roll pack). So I takes it. $15.18 with shipping. When it arrives it goes back stage at the Tweed Greed thread, to be paired with a gray (Good Pendleton) tweed to be shown maybe come September.

It's likeable colors and mutes like the ones above that have me tip toeing across the line into camo (see first post above), but this one hits the breaks at plaid.

It is strange to me that Pendleton has veered off of a path of wool, local workers, and good value in the long run. Is making native pattern knock offs really that big a market and able to support their pricing? Their traditional striped blankets are still very nice, but their competition from Hudson's Bay and others is very strong. My gracious but heavy wool blankets have gotten expensive! Thankfully they last for generations. I sort of wish Pendleton would revive some things like the Topster. As we lower our thermostats in the winter, the Topster is a comfortable way to stay warm and carry extra pockets.
