I really enjoy wisiting classic style clothing stores. I like the atmosphere, with leather chairs, good quality clothes, and well informed staff.

Actually, the atmosphere of these "classic style" shops is more important for me than buying the clothes themselves.

What about you, gentlemen, do you ever go into a shop because of its atmosphere, rather than an interest in buying clothes?

And does that make you a bad customer?

Good quality clothing and informative staff is the most important thing ! you can get a good atmosphere with leather chairs etc in a decent hotel bar !

Unfortunately for me, those shops which you describe don't let me hang around all day unless I purchase something.

However, when I do need to make a genuine purchase, I'm always very glad to know of such places.

Shoe shops, tie shops,

Unfortunately, the purchse I enjoy the most, seldom come from the shops which I enjoy visiting the most.

Oh, I've just thought - Barker on Regent Street. That one combines both aspects admirably!

Pichao, which Swedish establishments would you recommend the most?

I can only talk about Gothenburg. The clothes shop I enjoy to visit the most is Twins, that has exactly the atmosphere I described earlier.

Some shops within the Nordiska kompaniet (NK) are also nice to visit.

I think it's a combination of atmosphere; quality merchandise that fits one's style; and a comfort factor with the sales staff. I don't, however, go into my favorite stores just to "hang out" although I do a bit of that, but in situations where I am looking for something and planning to buy something either then or in the near future.

I will tell you that I DID many years ago go to a certain tie shop in NYC to "hang out" because I had a bit of a "thing" for a sales woman, and enjoyed the banter with her. But that was a long time ago.

I wisit shops because of the atmosphere, the attitude of the sales staff, and the quality of the clothes. Normally I am thinking of bying something in the future, and I want to get information about prices, quality, options, etc.
I tend to do this in shops with a good atmosphere. I normally (but not always) do my purchases in these shops, especially during sales, when one gets most value for money. I may, however, wisit them 3-4 times between each purchase.
