I've seen this cloth at other tailors, but wasn't sure it'd make up well into a good looking jacket. Thought it might be a bit too much. But I think it looks really good here. I'm not wild about all of Chang's tailoring, as differentiated from their shirts, but this is very nice.

Echoes back to our Esquire thread as it strikes me as having a '30s men's bold fashion vibe.

It's gorgeous as a piece of sartorial excellence, but one would need all of his clothes to be of that level of quality and tailoring - plus a lifestyle where that was appropriate - to pull it off in a natural and not-forced, not look-at-me way.

I would certainly wear it to a spirited party, like Mardi Gras or an LSU game. Spilled hurricanes, blood and tears won't show.

Seriously, it is a very celebratory looking jacket. I have a purple donegal tweed with small yellow highlights that I rock on occasion.

Cheers,

Do my eyes deceive me...or is that actually a purple jacket? Should the jacket be what it appears to be, could anyone advise as to the best technique for un-ringing a bell? Purple is just not my color. ;)

I don't find it terribly bold properly accessorized. The rich, darker colors and muted soft brushed cloth calm the effect for me.

I could be mistaken, but I think it's red, white and blue. (Navy actually.) The soft, brushed cloth appears to have caused a blending of the appearance of the colors in it. Navy, as is generally true of colors, can actually be many shades. And the red has been brushed so as to partially blend into it, creating an appearance that might be confused with purple. But the polo shirt which is a lighter and slightly washed out navy compliments it well to my eye, and if the color of the jacket were truly purple rather than another shade of navy, I don't think it would do as well.

^^My friend, you are absolutely right regarding the jackets compatibility with the polo shirt.

Red, white and blue...Hmmm? In that case, my patriotic internal constitution, just won't permit me to not like it and requires that I withdraw my earlier reservations! LOL. ;)
