The linings I have seen are like a tube inside the leg, a half lining being just past the knee.So members here talk about whether to get trousers half or fully lined, but does that included the back side, or only the front?
You have me feeling bit nostalgic for those old Jos A. Bank's sales, where they seemingly gave the customer everything in the store for a price of almost nothing. Good times and occasionally, very good deals!Typically only the front. But I've seen and had tweed trousers that were fully lined from the knee.
If my faulty memory serves I had such a pair 40 years ago, from of all places, the original Jos. A Bank when they made all their own tailored clothing in their factory in Baltimore. They had a special order option, at a modest upcharge and one of the features was to line the trousers. I phone in an order for a Donegal tweed suit, and the gentleman asked if I would like the trousers lined. Sounded like a good idea, and I believe they did both front and back.
There was a time when Jos. A. Bank was a terrific store for a TNSIL type, selling lovely MiUSA wares including 3 roll 2 sack suits in Baltimore. They also offered two button and double breasted. That is the Jos. A. Bank I miss. You have me feeling bit nostalgic for those old Jos A. Bank's sales, where they seemingly gave the customer everything in the store for a price of almost nothing. In the '70's I found Jos A Bank to be a reasonable lower cost alternative to Brooks. If the absolute quality was not quite as good, it was still well made traditional clothing at price significantly lower. Very few actual makers were then doing direct retail thereby eliminating the need for the additional retail mark up for them to make money. I.e, they made a bit more via direct sales, and you saved a bit more. There was a time when Jos. A.
