I was helping my dad gather some old things and came across these old shoes. Wingtips from the 70s. He wears them about once every 3 years. They were last polished ... never. ;-)

Inside the shoe on the heel it says, "Winthrop Royale Genuine Welt"

He seems to think they're cordovan, I'm skeptical. What do you think?

Get a shoe-tree exclusively for them and leave it in for at least a few weeks before taking the shoe tree out and give them a good polish.

The color may be cordovan but, the hide looks to be calfskin...based on the appearance of the creases across the vamp of the shoes.

Did you notice the huge differential on the pattern at the toes?
Not a criticism, just an observation.
I also would suggest that they are calf, not cordovan.
