If there are any readers in the Twin Cities area, I'd love to find a reliable tailor on the eastern side of the metro area! I live in Woodbury and have tried simple jobs with the two commercial tailors in town, and have found them to be "people with some proficiency with a sewing machine" rather than real tailors. Are there any suggestions? I have a good bit of work to do, and would love to find someone worth giving my money to!

I used to live in St. Paul and I can highly recommend Top Shelf in Minneapolis on Lyndale Ave. It's a little bit of a hike from Woodbury, but they do exceptional work. In addition to alterations, they also make custom shirts and suits. No affiliation, just a satisfied customer.

Looks like someone ventured over from woot:icon_smile_wink: Good to see you on here.

I can't speak for Top Shelf but if you're going to make your way to Minneapolis I would touch base with Marty Mathis. I just received two blazers back from him a couple weeks ago and they were perfect.

Dude! I didn't know you posted here as well! Maybe we can talk about this at the gathering on the 28th - will you be attending?

I would be taking some of my alteration jobs to Top Shelf as well. I have been looking to shorten the length on a couple of my jackets. Every other alteration 'specialist' in town that I talked to, acted as if they had never heard of shortening a jacket let alone done it. Talked to Top Shelf and I was pleasantly surprised that not only they can do this alteration but also quoted a very reasonable price for it.
