The entire purpose of my book and website is to educate. I want men to know what the rules of fashion are, and why those rules are so important for projecting the image they want.
...It made me realize that there was a fantastic community out there that could answer difficult questions, and take some of the burden off me to answer every question.
Great job Andy!

Any Advice for Custom Clothiers?

Based on my experience with online MTM, my advice to those who sell online MTM clothes would be to hire experts who know how to pattern and make clothes. Accurately translating measurements to a garment is not enough to get a well-fitting suit. It's knowing how to use those measurements is where I've seen online MTM go wrong.

The patterns are not right for most men, which often put the fullness in the wrong place or shape a seam the wrong way. The details are made without any finesse. They lack the nuance of a well-tailored garment. The people who make online MTM need better training so they can make better fitted and more attractive garments.

A good RTW garment that doesn't fit perfectly can be altered, while when the fit of an online MTM suit is off it usually can't be fixed. A remake generally does not fix the problem either.

This is down to a poor cut above all else because the clothes are made by people who don't know what they're doing. They sell on good prices, fancy websites and buzzwords: all things that don't make good clothes.

I've yet to hear and read about and see online made to measure that is anything other than disastrous, unfortunately. :(

Almost all is disastrous, and that's down to the skills of the makers more than it is down to customers not measuring correctly.
Are we strictly talking jackets and trousers, or all online MTM?

I've had great recent success with Proper Cloth shirts with not much effort.

I should've specified that it is only online made to measure coats, trousers and vests that are nothing other than disastrous. I'm guessing online made to measure dresses and skirts are also nothing other than disastrous.

Online made to measure shirts are fine, as is online bespoke neckwear.

There are a few good shirtmakers, though I've had problems with a few too. I've had problems with a few different ones who get the collar right and the cuffs wrong, so they remake it and get the cuffs right and the collar wrong, and then throw in a different sleeve length for good measure.

My wife got an online MTM dress, and it fit perfectly. The quality wasn't so good though.

That's been my experience with a maker as well, it got frustrating.

I like Proper Cloth because the UI is incredibly simple to use.

Their CS team that adjusts fit based on pictures and my preferences has been spot on as well, great communication.

Proper Cloth definitely has the best reputation, and they've now expanded their options to include fabrics and styles that I like, though I have bespoke and MTM shirtmakers that I'm quite happy with, so I don't see myself trying them.

I've got a few shirts from Proper Cloth, and I'm very happy with them. It took a few rounds to get them exactly right, but less inconvenient than going to a tailor.
Same here, two rounds. One thing I learned is that my shoulders aren't nearly as big as I thought. I went off my suit shoulder size, and that was a solid 1.5" bigger than actual/shirt shoulder.
