I think this thread can stay put so long as we all behave. It has interesting observations, most of which I concur with, with one exception. "His overall style is distinctly American" is decidedly untrue. Biden has always been appearance conscious, and his current look is in many ways the antithesis of long-standing DC, which IMO for politicos has been the too-big sack suit, the too-long pants that pool at the shoes, and of course the ubiquitous American flag lapel pin (full disclosure, as someone who works in DC, I have a personal variety myself). I think both Biden and Harris have presented themselves well sartorially; displaying a professional, competent, and united front.

I appreciate Biden's clothes. He looks presidential. He's always well-put together so he looks capable and his clothes make him look youthful and cool (I'm not necessarily saying he is either of those things).

There's one thing in that article I disagree with. "Biden's pocket square isn't a fashion flourish. It's not a shrill exclamation point. It's worn with the precision of a uniform and it makes his suit just a touch more formal."

A pocket square is always a fashion flourish, an it's particularly so when folded meticulously into points. Biden's looks pre-folded. Maybe he's trying to redefine the "presidential fold". A pocket square has no bearing on the suit's formality. All it does is give visual purpose to a breast pocket and tells others that they care about their clothes. However, it's possible to care about your clothes without telling people through wearing a pocket square. Despite what some style gurus say, nobody is better-dressed for wearing a pocket square, and certainly nobody is more formally dressed for wearing a pocket square. If Biden lost his pocket squares, he'd still look just as good.

I used to like Biden's suits but his button stance has moved way too high. The suits are also too tight. I think this is to give him a "youthful" look.

Look at these pictures. The second button of his two-button jackets is higher than his pant's waist. He needs to bring the pants up and the button stance down.

I have met Joe Biden when he was Vice President. Spoke to him for a minute. Two things, the guy had ring around the collar and babbled on about something or other. Could t believe the Vice President of the United States would have ring around the collar! 😂

I agree that his button stance is a bit high, but disagree that his suits are overall too tight. They look, to me, a lot like those transitional "modern fit" suits from the 2000s. Not slim fit, but not a relaxed fit from the '90s either.

I'm glad pocket squares have returned to the presidential rotation, but Biden is not the first modern President to wear them. Trump occasionally did in his term. Unlike Trump, Biden has always been fond of them, looking back at decades of pictures. I wish he'd show some shirt cuff.
