I remember being overly optimistic about S&M a few years ago when they were offering university striped ocbds in what described as a traditional fit. They were described using all the trad buzzwords. I was sorely disappointed when my shirt arrived. The collar was decent but the fit was like a Milano Brooks Brothers at best, and the fabric was ok but certainly not the heavy weight it claimed to be.
That jacket does look nice, and I am sure they have gotten better, but that one experience kind of put me off to the brand.

I’m a fan of S&M and own several of their sport coats and blazers. Be warned though, the waist on all their jackets is very nipped. They are advertising this as a sack because it doesn’t have darts I suppose. Just looking at it though, it appears this model also appears to have more waist suppression than you would find in a true sack.

I wear size 42R in J. Press suits and jackets. In S&M I’m a size 44 just for reference.

Good comments above.

I was very excited about their new "Italian button down" collar. It is pretty nice, but as GregorSamsa said above, the body fit is way too tight for me. And I typically wear the Regent or "slim" fit in Brooks oxfords. If I was still a young skinny lad, it might be good though.

As to their jackets, I found that I need to size up one size and then they fit well. For jackets, I found that if you call them, they are very good about telling you the exact measurements. They will also sell different size suit pants which is helpful.

Well, I'm one and done with these people. As I've posted before, I recently bought a suit that seemed to fit everyplace but in the waist of the coat where it was tight to the point of being ridiculous. Trousers fit fine. I've since lost four or five pounds. I still can't come close to fastening the coat but the trousers are now too big. God bless these folks, but never again...

It is not something I can tell from the photos, but it appears to have darts near the fronts of the pocket flaps. The waist suppression is consistent with darts. Maybe I am seeing faint wrinkles.

In the photograph below, blown up and lightened at the Pinery labs, you'll see what's thought to be a dart, but it's not. It's a mild crease, extending into the breast pocket. True darts end just below the breast pocket. You can also see a similar diagonal crease just to the upper left, as well as lint on the jacket at the bottom right. What we are able to do here in the Pinery labs is nothing short of tradtastic.

I requested an exchange of an item I purchased a month ago. Emails went unanswered as did their customer service phone number until I finally reached them last Thursday. I was told the exchanged item would be mailed that day. Four days later still no shipping update. Buyer beware.

I thought this looked interesting. Seems to have all of the correct details, and a good deal as well.

@Tom Buchanan , Thanks for sharing this site, always good to explore other possible Haberdashers... I agree with the questions above with regard to "sack cut" vs. darted or tucked. Unfortunately these guys seem to be trying to key on certain clickbait terms without really delivering true traditional style. Another example, they use the term "American" a lot in their descriptions, however no reference to being made in the USA or Canada...I bet not...its a pass for me.

S&M's suits and jackets are made in China. I guess their intent was to specify the "american sack" cut.

I'm curious as to what a true traditional style would be though for a sack cut.

I've read that a common misconception about sack cuts is that they're shapeless through the waist. I've seen examples of undarted sack suits with nipped waists. I've also seen undarted sack suits with very full waists. Both are technically traditional sack cuts, just different interpretations.
