Amazon is great for reviews and their Prime TV Stick. But they can't even tell you where products are coming from? Ebay has to list the sellers State. I bought 2 orders of face masks, and they are no where to be found. Now Amazon says they might be lost. Seller insists they are shipped. Why can't they say it is out of the country?

Agreed!

Amazon isn't what it was in many ways, and they're in danger in greeding themselves into difficulty through disreputable 3rd party vendors. Also noticed that with multiple purchase options, you typically are offered the most costly, and need to fish around to find the others.

I experienced exactly the same problem you have with 2 orders of face masks from 3rd party vendors, one through Amazon, that are most certainly just criminal scams. Did eventually get a credit after a couple months for the Amazon order.

My wife placed an order through Walmart for face masks which arrived promptly, and are decent quality for non-medical grade disposable masks. I've since placed a 2nd order, and the same thing.

I'm having the same problem with an orfer for several boxes of surgical gloves from a third party vendor. First they told me it would taker almost 40 days to receive the order; then they extended the date a month to May 20. It's way past May 20, 2020 and I still haven't seen my gloves. I'm out less than $50, but Amazon has been less than useless in resolving this problem! :(

That's very similar to what I ran into with the masks.

And you're right, they really are useless in dealing with the third party vendors. First I had to wait the required time, then I pushed a button for no receipt that opened another dialog page that said I had to contact the vendor, which I did. And got a next day response from the vendor (Laughing behind his hand!) to the effect of, "So sorry! Let us know if it shows up." After which I again pushed a button that opened a small box for text in which I pasted the vendor's response. About 2 days later Amazon e-mailed me telling me they were honoring my request for a refund, and it would show up in my next statement.

As I said, Amazon's greedy unwillingness to carefully screen 3rd party vendors for product quality and customer service before giving them a marketplace is going to wind up biting them in the ***. Can't do it profitably? Either figure it out, or find a different way to make more money.

Over the past few months, I've had several occurences of items not arriving. After contacting Amazon, I was told I needed to contact the vendor to correct the situation. In one instance, the vendor sent out replacement goods. In the other, I did not even receive a response.

I purchase (well, one of my employees does), between $5 & 7,000.00 of consumeables and MRPs, for my manufacturing plant each month, with generally excellent results. The key to safety on Amazon are the words "free returns", along side of the price.

I also believe all retail is cyclical in existence and Amazon will be contending, in years to come with others, such as Walmart (if they ever fully get their E-commerce off the ground).

I buy on-line from Walmart frequently. They will often have things I can't find on Amazon, their prices are usually less, sometimes by as much as 75%, and their delivery is usually quicker. The one main drawback is that when searching their site, they'll offer items that are only available in the store, but won't notify you of that until you're ready to check out. A bother because if you've created an order with multiple items, you have to replan your purchases.
If I wanted to go to the store, I wouldn't be shopping on-line! :pic12337:

Agreed! I've had several employees, through the past few years, say that we could buy cheaper at a local, retail store. I've replied yes, until I factor costs of labor to go shopping!

My biggest issue with Amazon is that they co-mingle stock at their distribution centers. Meaning that the same item with the same UPC/ barcode gets put in the same bin at the warehouse, no matter who it originates from. So, you could order from an authorized seller on Amazon marketplace, maybe even the brand owner. However, if a shady seller is selling the same item, maybe fake, or reject-quality, the order-picker at the Amazon warehouse goes to the one bin where all the stock with same UPC is located. The upshot is that you can buy from a legitimate seller, but receive a poor-quality item.

Does Amazon read AAAC? I posted in this thread last Friday (June 19) regarding my discontent with a third party seller whose product I never received. Yesterday, at long last, I received an email from Amazon telling me I had been approved for a refund! Go figure? ;)
