A while back I bought a white point collar shirt from J Press that's advertised as a "soft collar," meaning no collar stays.

Forgot about it.

Remembered it yesterday and deployed. It gives off a rumpled vibe, like postwar British films from Ealing Studios. Worked well with a hairy tweed, cotton sweater vest and repp tie.

Should have taken a photo but I was super busy

That’s a great looking shirt. Were you satisfied with using Ratio? How many tries did you need to adjust? Thanks.
I've been happy with all of my Ratio shirts. I ordered my first shirt, a Blue OCBD, in February 2017 using measurements from a Brooks Brothers shirt that fit me well. Those measurements got me pretty close but I had one re-do on that first order. It may have just been one measurement as well, maybe the chest or waist? On subsequent shirts I increased the left cuff measurement to allow more room for a watch. Other than that I've used the same measurements for all my shirts and they always come in on-spec and fit great.

Here's my order history:

February 2017 - Blue OCBD
October 2017 - red/blue flannel
May 2018 - Beyers plaid
July 2019 - White pinpoint (that's the one in the photo)
September 2021 - Yellow OCBD (I got a flap pocket on this one)
November 2022 - White OCBD
February 2023 - Blue OCBD (I'm interested to see how this compare with the one I ordered 6 years ago)

My first contribution. Well, second but I posted the other on the wrong thread.

Whoops.

My wardrobe is still kind of a work in progress, but we must start somewhere, right?

The tweed sports coat is from Towncraft. I picked it up for $8 at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Gray and white herringbone is a favorite pattern of mine, so how could I resist?

The OCBD is a Nautica I inherited from my father, as are the jeans.

I hope to look at this entry in a year or so and see a profound difference from that day to this one.

How are you intending to "up your game" in your future? Any ideas now on what you wish to acquire?
Good question and I don't have a great, detailed answer. I have enough of most things to function based on my current lifestyle. It's part of what's appealing about trad style in the first place.

So I'm probably going to focus on replacing what I have that's of less-than-ideal quality or fabrics with better stuff. For example, a couple of the shirts I got from Dad have a fair bit of polyester, so that would be replaced in time, but with something 100% cotton.

Plus, a lot of it will be increasing my knowledge of what's quality and what isn't so that I can make that determination better. I'm at that point where I suspect I think I know more than I actually do, I'm just self-aware enough to recognize that as a strong possibility/probability.

Haven’t posted anything in a while so I thought I’d contribute, apologies for the crummy selfie.

Other than being a tad dark, I thought it was pretty good for a 🤳 . I may be biased. You are wearing my casual cool weather uniform.

Had to run out for a few errands, and since I rarely get a chance to actually dress the way I want, I decided to take advantage.

Blazer: Polo University Club
Shirt:Nautica
Jeans: Lee
Shoes: Clark's Chukka boots

What's impressive to me is that there's not even $100 in this ensemble.

What's less impressive is that while I'm impressed with the shirt fitting perfectly (my tailor had it on clearance and made sure it fit perfectly before he'd let me buy it), the jeans seem to be falling down. They fit nicely when I put them on, but I start walking and the slip down and my torso looks about eight feet long.

Gotta work on that.

Still, the wife and daughter thought I looked great, and that matters plenty.
