I just returned from a weekend in lovely Virginia. Great weather and, as always, wonderfully hospitable folks. From the waiters to the shop-keepers to the receptionist at the Tavern out in the Tuckahoe area, unbelievably welcoming.
While there, I dropped by a couple of shops: Peter Blair on the corner of Grove and Libbie in Richmond, and Eljo's in Charlottesville. Both stores look great. The former is #8 in the country for Bills Khakis sales, which may tell you all you need to know. (Very traditional). The latter continues to be an Ivy League/natural shoulder haven, stocking items that no one else is stocking, including a ton of patch madras trousers, shorts, and sportcoats, needlepoint belts, and Alan Paine crewneck shetlands in colors made specifically for Eljo's. They were on sale, so picked up a couple. I also invested in four new grosgrain watchbands, a couple of Lacoste polo shirts, and a couple of short-sleeve madras shirts.
Cheers,
Harris
