Check out this vintage, three-piece Edwardian-era suit for sale on eBay! Peter King of Bookster1uk manages to unearth some of the most fascinating things from the closets of England.

Really, something like this belongs in a museum of textile history.

Enjoy.

But for the sizing, that suit is perfect in every way!

I'da never thunk about lining the fishtail waistband with satin, but it makes
perfect sense. The idea is to let your trousers hang from your shoulders,
which can only happen if the pants can slide up over your navel when you
sit down, and down around your natural waist when you stand up.

And that's the fun ...

Many thanks for posting! To my eye, no more "Costume" than a Press outfit from 1955. I'd wear it if it fit -- and then will it to a museum.
... of having a PERSONAL sense of style and not being bound to any set of fashion rules, do's and don'ts. Just having fun and looking good (and feeling confident) doing it!

That might be overdoing it just a bit. The seller's offering no provenance: there's no label, no date, no nothin'. And he lists it as ventless and there's clearly a vent in the picture. Strictly speaking, to be Edwardian, it's got to be pre-1910. The suit shown appears similar to a small number I own and wear from the late 20's and early 30's. It's seems nice, but common. It's also interesting to note that the previous owner must have been like a duck pin: 38" waist and 18" shoulders.
