While watching "numbers" this week.I saw that the jacket worn by Charlie Epyes had a double buttonhole on the lapel.I've never seen this before does anyone know what it is for?

You'll also see that from time to time on ADA Carver's suits on Law and Order, Criminal Intent. It might be a rather useless affectation on a bespoke suit or it might be there to allow you to wear both a boutonnierre and a lapel pin or the bar on a breast-pocket watch chain, although either would seem to make the lapel a very busy place indeed.
