I have recently made my first purchases of shirts with detachable collars. In parallel, having used TM Lewin for most of my daily work shirts for the last few years, I wanted to try a different brand/fit.

I have always found the standard Lewin cut to be overly square and rather loose, and don't like their darted 'slim-fit' because, well, I don't like darts, and I find that in my collar size they are a little too slim around the shoulders/chest and upper arms.

So, I tried Ede & Ravenscroft, and have been very pleased. They are clearly a trimmer shape than Lewin, and have longer tails as well. Slightly stiffer cuffs as well, which I prefer.

I had also been meaning to try a detachable collar for a while, and so purchased a sky blue herringbone tunic shirt with matching soft collar, which I am enjoying greatly. There is no noticeable difference in appearance to my mind, but that doesn't detract from my sartorial enjoyment of the experience one bit!

Now I have a couple more, and, have also purchased my first (white) stiff collar (a 'Cameron' also from E&R) in anticipation of a wedding I will attend next month.

I have also realised that the Chancery Lane branch of TM Lewin has a reasonable selection of tunic shirts with detachable (soft) collars (I don't think you will find these on their website, or in the Jermyn Street branch) should anyone be interested.

Welcome to the club! I'm wearing a stiff collar today, attached to an old James Meade bengal-stripe that, being economically minded, I had converted to tunic when the collar wore out. You should find that T.M. Lewin's Jermyn Street store carries a few tunic shirts, but not on display. I haven't bought from there myself, but did find one white tunic in the sale shop next door. Usually I buy by mail via a rather complicated arrangement I came to with the mail order department; there was some talk about them bing sold online, but sadly nothing appears to have come of it. I recently bought a French Blue tunic shirt from E&R at a deep discount; I'm quite pleased with it, but still struggling to deal with the fullness of cloth on the face of the collar and cuffs, which makes ironing them a challenge!

I wear both the Cameron and the H&H's Kent collar. You may get a better price on the Camerons buying directly from Luke Eyres.

The Luke Eyres collars run a little tight and shrink by 1/8 inch, and the H&H "kent" collar is slightly generous in size.

I thought it was just me who was slightly annoyed at this (it affects their regular shirts as well). It does reduce a little after several washes but never goes completely. The most recent shirt I got from them (oh, about 4-6 months ago) is much better in this regard, so maybe they've changed some specifiications.

Now I feel better, having previously believed *I* was alone in this problem! I wonder if anyone else finds this?

Noted, although I only wanted to buy one (initially...). Luke Eyres could well be the future port of call though.

I have noticed this a little, but it has not been excessive. Perhaps now I will notice it rather more...!
