What? Where do you tuck them in?

Yeah, I did it for my first three years or so out of the Marine Corps. Somehow just stopped doing it and had frankly forgotten the habit until this post.
If I noticed someone doing it I would probably either be mildly impressed at this attention to detail (in which case I'd probably ask where he acquired such a habit) or quietly alarmed by this outward manifestation of his OCD (in which case I'd work my way to the other side of the room).
And you guys, properly done, it doesn't hurt a bit.

On dress shoes I only do it with one pair. It is a matter of the laces being too slick and come untied. The other alternative is to double knot them which is a pain to untie.
On the other hand it should always be done on boots or any shoe you wear in rough territory (or rough neighborhoods). This simple act of preparation can save you a lot of grief. Anything hanging loose when you leave civilization behind is wrong, wrong, wrong.

In terms of coming untied in your comment, here is a quick tip.

Double turn around the 1st bow, then pull through the other loop as normal. This extra round the 1st bow makes a world of difference, used to do this with my running shoes, and now with dress shoes (more of a problem with standard laces), and absolutely never come loose.

The best part, they come apart just like a normal tied shoe.

I tuck the laces of my dress shoes when I put in their shoe trees. I keep my shoes on racks on the top shelf of my closet, toes forward, and the laces look better (read: like a store display) tucked in than dangling over the side.

Wouldn't do it when wearing them, however, although I do lace dress shoes straight across for the same reason.

Well that is one tip I have never heard before. I will try that the next time I wear the pair with the slick laces.
Of course I could just buy new laces but a free idea beats having to relace the shoes any time. Thanks for the great suggestion.
