I can.

Me.

I don't care if it means I end up outdressing the conductor half the time. It is better than wearing beach wear (ie lounge suits) to the opera.
I'm a season ticket holder to the Fort Worth Opera and use to wear black tie for every performance. Last season they went to a summer festival format, so I wore a white dinner jacket for two of the three performances. Usually, during the regular format I was not the only one wearing a dinner jacket although the summer festival format resulted in fewer men wearing dinner jackets. Of course, there was more flip flops.

A while back, I was attending a concert at Avery Fisher Hall. I turned around and there was Evgeny Kissin sitting directly behind me in all his afro-hair glory. He was wearing a sweater and collared shirt underneath. Kissin may wear a tux on stage, but he definitely dresses down when he sits in the audience.

I say any nice casual wear is appropriate in a evening concert setting unless someone it's a gala or labeled "black tie" or "white tie". There's nothing wrong with looking sharp in your tux if you like dressing up just for kicks.

Update

Wore a dark blue suit and felt appropriately dressed with the rest of the audience. I spotted only two men wearing black tie, and I believe they both were Americans. But the ladies, oh my, do they dress for the opera! Bela, bela, belissima!!

I have no experience with either but I side with Sator. I suppose if you go regularly you're more likely to be jaded.
