This is only what I've heard (so take this with a grain of salt), but I hear that the shirts are decently made, but definately not worth the price. In addition, most VV stuff follows the same mantra of good quality, but overpriced.

I would rather own a BB or Mercer shirt than any of those Vineyard Vines shirts. I own just a few (I'll try anything once), and in general, the polos are the only things worth owning, if you must go VV. It seems to me to be a more "commercial" trad company...catching on a bit too quick I think.

I would have preferred it if the stuck with their polos and ties.

I would rather own Bills/Murray's pants to VV pants, and as far as winter jackets, fleece coats, etc. for the same price Patagonia has much better quality garments.

I admit to having a few of their bowties...they are kinda fun to wear on a Friday.

Enels has hit the nail on the head.

Shirts are ok but not as good as BB/Press/Polo.
Pants are inferior to Bills/Polo GI/Patagonia, and hell even some duck heads I have.
I love their ties and belts though. I tend to wear more of the belts than ties lately...

Oh, and for a jacket I do agree that Patagonia is the way to go.

Hope this helps,
J.

If you like the style of the ties, I think they are a very fair deal. The ties are made in America, and rather substantial. Yes, I realize the ties are getting a bit too popular.

The rest of their line I will skip in order to allow more clothes for "Ian to play the guitar, Shep to go crabbing, and Ian and Shep to sail their boat, etc., etc." in.

I like the stuff, and it is still not overly worn in our area.

I agree that the polos are very good. I have 4-5 of of them and they are the best fitting polos I have. They are cut a little roomier and have kept their shape pretty well. Although, if you haven't tried a Patagonia polo, they are indestructible. They are almost as good, if not equal, but they are a little thicker fabric. I have one Murray short from VV and for what I paid for it I would probably not go there again. Their button down shirts are at least $20-$30 overpriced in my opinion.

VV ties are probably $10-$20 overpriced but I like them. I only have a few but I don't know anyone else around that wears them, and they are easy to spot.

I also love the boxers (yes, I've taken heat on this one at AAAC before). They are pricey but last forever and get more comfortable with every wash.

Just how much are they? I had to go home at lunch to replace a pair I shredded just this morning. (wink)

Re VV--I don't wear it, although I am jealous of a few college students that I see wearing it at church--belts in particular.

VV oxford shirt= stay away! logos (old navy even copied it), inappropriate size (S, M, L????). you'll get a shirt that has ill-fitting yokes and incorret sleeve length. simply not worth it. Go with BB/J.Press/Mercer when it comes to OCBDs

VV pants = not worth the price either

VV flip flops = GREAT (for beach)

VV ties = getting a little too popular in my school. well made though.

I lofted that softball up there for you Allen figuring you would take a swing at it.

The older I get, the less my underwear shreds.:icon_smile_wink:
