Sorry, then I would say that if you like wearing boots, go ahead. [:I]
I take it you're against wearing Chelsea boots as well then? Jodhpurs go no higher than Chelsea's...
I wasn't taking a position for or against boots in my post, I was merely chagrined at my original error of assuming you meant Jodhpur pants.

I prefer jodhpurs to chelsea boots - I don't like the look of the elastic on the latter, although I appreciate that this makes them a helluva lot easier to put on and take off.

I wear my pair of jodhpurs with jeans.

From the OED:

jodhpurs, n. pl.

1. a. Riding-breeches reaching to the ankle, combining breeches and gaiters. Also attrib. in sing. b. Indian trousers cut loosely at the top but close-fitting below the knee.

2. jodhpur boot, an ankle-high boot, orig. as worn with jodhpurs.

Regards

Well, it is the OED ... but

where'd they get that from?

Jodhpurs do extend down to cover the area gaiters would cover, but I've never seen a pair that had any elements of gaiterdom.

Gaiterism?

Gaiterness ...

Somebody: "I tell you, he's so well dressed that when he walks down the street people turn around to look at him."
Beau Brummell: "Then he is not well dressed."

I feel the same way. I have a pair of Trickers, and love 'em.

Some models of Trickers are a bit clunky (at least Stow in their country line -- which is great for their intended purpose, namely mucking around outside in any weather). But Tricker's jodhpur (Chepstow model) boots are stylish.

My only complaint is I like to wear them snug with the strap pulled hard, and in time (and not much time) it stretches. I had to put additional holes in the strap, but that was easy (had the the local shoe repair guy do it the first time, and I did it the second). They're still breaking in, but they were comfortable from day "1" and keep feeling better.

Take a look at R.M. Williams boots they do both a strap boot and a number of diffrent styles of elastic sided boots they also do a custom service where by you can choose from exotic leathers such as ostrich or kangaroo along with choices of soles and heels .
I have a pair of the yearling craftsman, the yearling comfort craftsman, and the craftsman strap boot they are an Australian company
and their products are Australian made. I`ve had nothing before or after that has bettered them including high end English manufacturers

+1...In my book, there are none better! Once you try the boots in kangaroo leather, there are no substitutes. Sounds like you are enjoying yours, as much as I have enjoyed mine, Tom.

Liberty: While elastic sided Chelsea and Jodhpur boots generally have that "little pull tab," this is not always the case in "properly constructed" strap jodhpurs. Here are some rather nice made-to-measure designs by John Lobb St. James's:

For Panzer:

Btw, the colour of the sole edge can be changed easily.
The colour on the Chepstow looks dark brown to me. Same like the AS.

PS: And yes, I like them a lot. It will be one of my next pair of shoes.

In my circles (fox hunting, mostly, and eventing), Jodhpurs (more commonly "jods") are the pants. Rarely worn except by the very young anymore, most of us prefer breeches (britches in VA) which are more closely cut. The boots that are shown here would be referred to as "paddock boots." These things seem to take on a regional identity in the horse business.

For confirmation you have only to ask my lovely young ex-assistant Durga who is the Maharajah's great great granddaughter.

Hello, Nick. Yes I'd like to confirm that with your lovely ex-assistant. How do I get to talk to her? :)
