Gorgeous cloth. A shot of the whole jacket might be fun.I hogged the picture above, it was supposed to highlight the madras, so let me give the cloth a better shot...

I couldn't find this on BR website. It's not the same as in the first pic? Bleeding can really change colors. This arrived today.
Not ready for full presentation, it's currently soaking in a bucket of hot water to loosen it up. She be quite stiff. Fairly new I guess. Sleeves need taking up as does the body. I'll be a while fiddling with this. It's in the queue though. Will be ready by the 4th probably, as will the peas, if you plant 'em early.

I find it lamentable that modern Madras does not bleed. The muted lines and dulled colors added cachet.I couldn't find this on BR website. It's not the same as in the first pic? Bleeding can really change colors.
Just now saw the above. I've been away. Where, you ask? Any place but here. Certain members can figure that one out. The jacket, yes it's from Banana Republic, but that's not where I got it. It came from one of the second-hand on-line sites, though it appears to be new. I paid 40 bucks shipped, somewhat more than I like to do. So I cut back on Little Debbies that week. It's not the same as the madras I first pictured in this thread, that's from Palm Beach. The Banana Republic one, which you apparently like and I was really smitten with, 40 bucks smitten, but I won't mention that again promise, is unique, colorwise, meaning the colors are earth tone and somewhat dark. I've taken some better photographs and they appear below. I've also not done any work on it, yet, so it won't be ready by the 4th, nor will the peas since I just remember I didn't plant any.I couldn't find this on BR website. Howard, It is a lightweight cotton fabric, originally from India, that became very fashionable in the late 50's and 60's which is still sought after. It is almost always plaid and you can see samples of this fabric type made into sport coats in the previous posts on this thread. It is usually a summer fabric that is often made into shirts. Hope this helps. What is Madras?
