They're wingtips, so obviously not a Park Avenue. The sole is too thin for an AE too. My bet is bespoke. If I had as much money as President Trump I wouldn't wear anything less to an event like that. Actually I would just wear bespoke shoes all the time. Another hint is the throat closes completely.

Anyone up for the usual online shoe photo game? Shell or not shell?

^ I'm not so sure about that. I don't think he puts that much thought or effort into it. His suits are OTR, albeit Brioni. He obviously doesn't care about the length of his ties so I'd doubt that all of a sudden he's struck by the urge to have bespoke shoes.

Au contraire, mon frere. Our new President obviously *does* care about the length of his ties. He *always* ties them too long. We all tie ties and know how long we're tying them and get it where we want it to be. So does he.

I'm sure he does it on purpose. There's been so much written about his habit over the years that one can safely say that he's quite aware of the "rule" and the criticism. He seems to have adopted this eccentricity as part of his brand along with his unusual hairstyle.

Here he is with another man who was known for his sartorial eccentricities.

I have read that Trump considers bespoke suits too much bother and a waste of time and relies on Brioni OTR. Consequently, I think it unlikely he is an aficionado of bespoke shoes. Just a hunch on my part, but I suspect substantially more men bespeak their suits than their shoes.

I note that he did not have any kind of waist covering--vest or cummerbund--when he wore black tie to the inaugural balls although I guess many men do forego a waist covering with black tie these days. To his credit, he did wear a peak lapel jacket.

Sskim3 I agree - he definitely has a reason for doing it. Your guess is as good as any I've heard. In a sense I will say I find it endearing in that I always end up watching him when he's on the boob tube to see if he's tied it too long and then I smile when I see that yes indeed he did. That photo of him with MJ from so long ago does crack me up in the sense that it shows he's been doing this for decades.

Not sure what inaugural balls you were watching. Trump was clearly wearing a cummerbund with his black tie rig.

I guess my eyesight is failing me in my old age. It happens.

On another note, I gather it is rumored that Mark Zuckerberg may be contemplating a run for the presidency in 2020 or, more likely, 2024. One can only wonder if he would continue to wear his signature T-shirts and jeans in the Oval Office--the horror, the horror! Should he take office in 2025, there's a fair chance I shall have checked out anyway, which is some comfort to me.

Here's a close up. I think this pic was meant to highlight the First Lady, who by they way looked spectacular, but it does show a close up of his shoe.
Thanks for posting this great close-up. Obviously not a Park Avenue and I agree with others: the sole is far too thin to be Allen Edmonds, save for some of their less-popular loafer styles. If he likes Brioni suits, it's possible he likes Italian shoes, too. The thinner sole does seem to suggest a more European look.

I scoured other photos online but I can't seem to find anything better than what you posted.

I would be curious if Paul, AE's CEO, weighs in here and mentions if they offered a pair of PAs to him as they have every other President.

Not speaking for the rest of you, but I for one, have great difficulty redirecting my focus to "The Donald's" shoes, when my other option is to focus on our First Lady's gams, supported by what appear top be 4" spike heels! What has happened to the eyesight and libidos of today's male population? LOL. ;)
