Next week I will be in Las Vegas, it is for work, but no actual work will be done. Long story short a corporate leader is taking the sales team that I am on to Vegas for 4 days as a reward, for two out of the three nights we are being told to wear cocktail/evening attire. I am seriously considering wearing two variations of black tie, one being classic, the other being more fun to include black watch trousers.

I am one out of four men, and one of them has already said he will not be packing a tie in his luggage. How would you prepare for this? My wife thinks black tie is too much, should I just pack a navy and charcoal suit?

Also, any suggestions for things to do that does not include gambling is much appreciated.

I would definitely not wear black tie. I would assume you guys will just be going out to party. If that is the case what you will see in Vegas during a night out is mostly a variation of:
1) Men in slim/modern cut suits with no tie
2) Men in dress slacks and shirt without a blazer/jacket
3) Men in jeans with tucked in dress shirt and a dark blazer
4) men in jeans with tucked in dress shirt
5) men in jeans with dress shirt untucked

You will mostly see the bottom 3.

Don't take black tie. Unnecessary. When I go to Vegas, the most I take is a sport jacket or two. I take one tie in case I have to wear it, but it usually stays in my luggage. You just don't need to be that dressed-up. People go there to have fun. If you work requires it, then by all means take a suit. Of course, if you boss will be wearing black tie, then I guess you are obligated (ask him).

You asked about other activities. I don't gamble either. Of course there are wonderful restaurants everywhere. My wife and I really like this place. Great seafood:

Enjoy your trip!

This looks about right based on my experience. I'd probably add....

6) men in jeans with untucked dress shirt and a dark blazer/sport coat

Having recently been there to visit my mother I can confirm #6. Substitute dark blazer/sport coat for suit jacket, black cap toe balmoral a and the awkward and cringe worthy spectacle of middle aged men trying to high-five one another and you have Vegas in a nutshell.
