I'm trying to figure out how much is an acceptable price for shirts from places like armani , rl , bb or hb.I'm obviously not talking about their luxury brands but just the normal dress shirt. Is 100-150 too much for a shirt like this.

I'm not a rich kid so I just want to make sure I'm getting what I should be paying for.

Thanks

For me, I like to browse the BB clearance section online. You can get some of their Egyptian cotton shirts for under 100. I love those shirts. They are normally 160-180. It all depends on what you need/want.

It seems like this has been discussed here at length before. I personally feel that Charles Tyrwhitt represents the most bang for the buck with Brooks Bros a close second.

I appreciate all the responses but maybe I worded it wrong. I'm just curious if 100 dollars is a good price for a decent shirt like bb prl or Armani, regardless if you Can afford it or not. I just always find myself indecisive before ordering because I think I might be spending to much on a shirt that's really not that good(and when I say good I mean quality, fit and design). The brands I like are Armani ,prl or bb or sometimes hb although I read hb is extremely over priced.I am not really a fan of ct.

BB Supima cotton dress shirts go drom $85-92 retail. With sales $50-65 and with just AAAC discount $75.
PRL run $75-95 retail and can be found on sale for$50-65 at the end of the season.
I don't know what hb stands for, and wouldn't think to buy Armani as I know I would be paying for name over quality and style.

I agree. It should have been asked in the previous shirt thread he made. I searched this very topic myself when trying to decide what shirts to stick with. Armani is NOT a good brand for shirts/suits.

With that said, $70.

Places like Nordstrom and Bloomingdales have all of those brands plus rewards programs you can join so if you spend enough money you can get coupons.

Also if you have a certain number of posts on this forum you can get yourself a Brooks Brothers discount that'll knock off 15% of your purchase.

I don't think people will ever agree on the definition of a decent shirt, nor will they agree on how much a decent shirt should cost.

That said, I buy decent quality OTR shirts on sale for about $35-50, and I pay $125 or so for high quality custom shirts.

I see a lot of people say that about armani and some how , its my favorite. Obviously I think its overpriced but I still think its good quality.

My only question is , I see people keep saying these really low prices.

I search sites alot and never see any of the brands I named for those prices. You have to at least spend 70-80 to get one of them. Maybe its just not sale season yet.

Since Kamakura offers a made in Japan product using high-quality 100% cotton, shell buttons, and single needle construction for $79 in the US (or around $50 in Japan), then I can't see paying $100 or more for an OTR shirt that lacks these features.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Kamakura doesn't have true custom shirts -- where you specify your body measurements, and they make a shirt to your specifications.

They do, but it's $180.

I was not suggesting that their $79 shirts were custom. I didn't see that the original poster mentioned that the $100 shirts in question were custom either. I was simply implying that they'd better be much better made than Kamakura to be worth it.

I would agree that $100+ for an OTR shirt is too much, yet I see OTR shirts selling for $200-300 and more (I wonder who buys them).
