Is there any use to fill your leather shoes with newspaper? If yes, why use newspaper and not just white print paper of A4 format?
To absorb water and help them hold their shape, if they have been accidentally soaked.
(The should be stuffed with crumpled newspaper, and the paper repeatedly changed.)
White print paper is not as absorbent.

The problem with newspaper is that the ink can/will transfer to the inside of the shoes, so you should either wrap it with tissue paper, or use all tissue paper or something similar instead.

Maybe he means to tighten up loose shoes. My right foot is half a sizer larger than my left. Next time ill try to get made to order but until now I've been buying accoding to my larger foot which results in one shoe being loose. One shoe repair guy suggested I stuff the toe box with sill putty or play dough wrapped in seran wrap. The putty or dough will conform to your foot and the seran wrap will contain it and prevent it from sticking to your socks or getting between your toes. I haven't actually tried this just something I heard.

Wet shoes. If your shoes get wet, stuff them with terrycloth or paper towels, and let them dry away from direct heat at room temperature. Don't polish your shoes while they are still wet.

Most appropriate would be to cut the newspapers in fine strips and force a large bunch into the shoe, so that there is a mild outward pressure on the shoes. This helps in keeping the leather flexible and does not allow it to shrink. The air within the newspaper strips would absorb moisture better.
