What color pants do you wear with a brown/gold blazer?

Wow! Contrasting colors. Without actually seeing the blazer it kinda hard to make a good recommendation. I would move towards complementary colours such as khaki or brown.

That would certainly work with the orange or purple.
If you're talking more like the color often called "camel," then brown (really brown, i.e. darker than the jacket) or dark blue. If it's a patterned tweed or something, you can probably wear it with lots of colors, including khaki.

Not that I'd be seen dead in a brown or a gold blazer but if it were deemed necessary for club/society/dress code reasons then black trousers.

It is my belief that OP means a brown blazer with gold buttons. If that is the case, then cream trousers would look well, IMO.
