Torsten reports from Piti Uomo on the latest trends in men's clothing. Apparently big coats are a big deal. Give this winter back East, I'd call that a grand idea!

Well, this was me at the Florence Pitti Immagine international men’s fashion show a few years ago!

Thank you! Some pretty stylish coats among these! And nothing too weird.

I'd been wondering where Torsten Grunwald got off to. Now I know! I've always enjoyed his blog.

I like some of those coats. For those of us who bemoan the way shorter and lighter topcoats have squeezed out the overcoat this is encouraging.

Also, look at the cut. Can we hope for normal cut suits to come back next?

The cut we are currently "enjoying" seems to be the last stop at the lowest end of the retail food chain. I.e., American RTW via Brit RTW. The rest of the world has moved on.

    This means:
    1. Everyone on StyleForum will have to buy a new overcoat.
    2. e-Bay will be flooded with short, slim used overcoats for sale.
    3. Long, roomy overcoats will dry up on e-Bay (actually, they already have, mostly).

Well, yes. I hope everyone on the forum has already secured theirs?

Yes, and given recent temps n the Northeast I'm glad I purchased many of my overcoats when I did. Made of substantial fabric that define the term over-coat. Some of what are deemed overcoats today are no more than sport coat weight and fit. Still, some decent weight coats can still be had.
