Hmm, interesting. I got rid of my navy shirt because when I wore it with my light gray sport coat, the navy shirt looked like an unattractive black hole. But I like the ensemble in the photo above. I guess I should've tried on my navy shirt with a darker colored sport coat.
If it helps, even though on paper it possibly sounds a bit off, I've found that navy turtlenecks work well with classic grey (black and white) herringbone tweed sport coats.
dressing for Sunday services yesterday I bounced between my "classic grey (black and white) herringbone tweed and a navy blazer to pair with a navy turtleneck. Alas, I went with the navy blazer, but reading your post this AM, Fading Fast, I rather wish I had been a bit more adventurous and gone with the Herringbone jacket!
Been wearing them since the 70s. Ya'all thought I might be dead.
I always called it my "rumpled poet" look.
For me, it's just plain rumpled!
Spoiled for choice -
Where did I put that Orson Welles applauding gif? You deserve it!
Between you guys and the cold weather, now I’m determined to wear a turtleneck with tweed and cords tomorrow.
The only dilemma is the choice. I’ve decided on this unlined BB tweed sports coat. Due to the extreme cold, an unlined tweed would be awaiting more temperate weather. But with a NS sweater underneath, the cold doesn’t stand a chance.
Which do you prefer?
I’m partial to the Ecru.
