I just got an absolutely beautiful shirt from Alex Kabbaz. Before you get too excited (we all know his prices and my budget!), it’s a modified ready to wear shirt. But it’s still an Alex Kabbaz shirt and now that I have one I can agree that Alex’s prices are well worth it!

I had recently gone through my shirt wardrobe and discovered a quality white shirt lacking. I’ve been going for glen plaid patterns recently (just a phase !!).

The fabric for this dress shirt is a Thomas Mason Goldline 2x2 140's Woven in Italy. The pattern is a white Bengal herringbone twill. It has a French Front, Edge stitched German-interlined Point Collar and Joelle Single-Link Swiss-interlined Cuffs (the Joelle part is what easily justifies the price).

The buttons are hand-sewn, Italian-made, Australian Mother-of-Pearl 3.2mm double-beveled and the monogram, located just under where the pocket would be if this had a pocket is a custom-designed, hand-embroidered, double-mercerized monogram.

I’ll wear it one day at the New York City event, just to show off.

Is that the same Thomas Mason 2-fold 140s that Turnbull & Asser uses for the "Sea Island Quality" shirts?

When I come back next time I'm around I'm going to be born rich, thin and good looking; maybe then I can get on the waiting list.

...and who said that running one's own fashion forum didn't have its benefits!

No. This yarn comes from Egyptian-grown cotton. The Sea Island 140's are woven of yarn spun from West Indian-grown cotton. The Egyptian is lighter and less dense. It yields a lighter, buttery-soft cloth.

    Mr. Kabbaz,

I did not realize Kabbaz-Kelly & Sons made ready to wear shirts. Are they
available (without modification) for sale to the public? I did not see any
mention of them in the archive or on your website. Thank you.

How soft is it? It's so soft I'm probably going to sleep in it tonight!

    EP:

I don't think ready-to-wear is part of the normal stock for Kabbaz-Kelly and sons! Maybe we could talke them into it!!
