Some Testimonials:
"I received The
Encyclopedia of Men's Clothes this afternoon, Andy, and it's
terrifically useful! Thank you for explaining how to access the
various disk components--your instructions helped me to quickly
navigate the book.
I particularly like your logical, straightforward approach to each
section. I mean to say, it really makes sense to explain why
something matters, then how to care for it once you've chosen to
incorporate the thing into your life, and then to include a history
of the item, which focuses the reader's attention on its intrinsic
value to a gentleman's kit.
Your book is more useful than Esquire's Encyclopedia of 20th-Century
Men's Fashions, because the latter serves as a chronicle not a
guide. The Encyclopedia of Men's Clothes provides a road map for
fellows who wish to understand the choices they make, and who wish
to make choices they understand. I am simply delighted with your
book!" -- J.M. NM
"The CD arrived today, and I was able to install it without too much
fuss (I am essentially computer illiterate).
While there hasn't been time to read everything, a check of the index
indicates an awful lot of useful info. My wife, who is a former
seamstress, checked a few entries on "fit" and was favorably
impressed. For myself, I have no "clothes sense" and expect it to
be very useful.
I discovered your website - and CD offer - while fooling around on
Google. Thank you for making this available, and
for the quick action on my order."

"Andy, Just wanted to drop a
note to tell you how much I enjoyed perusing the CD-ROM when it
arrived. I stayed up until 2 a.m. each night on the weekend. Many
thanks for the service you provide to all who are trying to hold up
the standards."

"Andy, I received your CD today and have
already spent a dizzying hour exploring. What fun.
Thanks for all of your work."

I received The
Encyclopedia of Men’s Clothes, and am quite pleased with it. It’s
highly informative, loaded with interesting facts, and I know I’ll spend
hours with it and refer to it often.
I found your web
site by doing a Google search for “pin collars.” The first result was a
link to the forum, and I became positively hooked on it—I’ve spent far
too much time reading posts in the past three days. When I branched out
to the rest of the site, I discovered the wealth of information you’ve
provided, and thought the CD-ROM was a must-have.
Thank you again for
the wonderful CD, and the terrific website.

"I would really like to thank you
for all the knowledge your encyclopedia and the forum has given me
about men’s clothes, and I consider the $20.00 I spent on your CD,
one of the best purchases I have made.
I believe that the information allows me to confidently make
suggestions to customers about what looks nice, or what is made
well, etc. Maybe I'll mail you a check for a percentage
of my commission!!"

“Love the website and the CD-Rom. Well
written and edited, nicely designed (both). Thanks.”
-- JC, GA
“I enjoyed the encyclopedia CD-Rom. I particularly enjoyed the
necktie and the fabric sections, the common trait being a clear
explanation of fairly specialized, technical subject matters.”
-- DN, MA
“I recently
purchased The Encyclopedia of Men's Clothes. I could not have
asked for a more informative and interesting book on men's
fashion... long story short - I love it and I am recommending it to
everyone I know.”
-- MMc, NY
"The Encyclopedia of Men’s Clothes will be a welcome addition to my
e-references. I anticipate that it will offer a lot of at hand
assistance for someone who likes clothes, as do I."
-- RK, NY
Thank you for my
copy of The Encyclopedia of Men's Clothes. I first heard of your
website through my older brother. As time went by I found myself
focusing less on my hobby of gaming and more on my new found interest in
style. I knew I had taken a turn when instead of asking for a game I
asked for a watch! After my 17 birthday I decided I wanted your book.
Since then I've had nothing but enjoyment out of this great investment.
I keep being amazed at the difference this book and site has, can, and
will make. I will definitely recommend this book as a must for any
persons library. Thank you again!-- R.P. OH
“I received the Encyclopedia. It’s excellent!!! Very
informative!!! A must for any profession that requires business
attire. I have already recommended it to several others.” --

"I'd read the site off and on for about 6 months, and
finally decided, 'Hey, the CD is only $20, why not check it out?
It's cheaper than buying Flusser's
book.'" -- DD, WI
"I have thoroughly enjoyed the CD-ROM.
What a great service for those of us who do not know anyone who
"knows" men's fashion."
-- DR, NY
“I have gotten so much out of the Ask
Andy Forum that I felt an obligation to buy the Encyclopedia CD.
I figured even if I got nothing out of it, it only cost 20 bucks.
Well, I received the Encyclopedia CD, and I've been going through
it. What a wealth of information. I'm sure that even the
cognoscenti on the Forum would learn something from the CD.
I doubt that there is anybody around who
couldn't benefit from it.
I'll be the first to admit that there
is a lot I don't know about clothing, but now all I have to do now
is pop the CD in the computer and I can learn about clothing
construction, what colors coordinate well, how to care for the
clothes I'm spending all this money on, and even history lessons on
how things got their names. I love history so I get a kick
out of finding out the origins of clothing.
Anyway, I bought this CD out of guilt
and I ended up getting quite a deal. It is $20 well
spent.”

"I ordered your book a month ago, and I'm getting
so much out of it I'd like to order two more books for my sons!”
-- DH, IL
"I did not order your CD-Rom for this occasion but I thought I would
pass along the immediate help I received from it. I recently
applied for membership at a local organization.
I found out that I was to be initiated this Saturday so I looked in my
closet as to what to wear. I was depressed. After skimming
parts of and really getting nourishment from some sections of your CD-Rom,
I drove up to J. C. Penny's today. Not a top line men’s store but
nonetheless, I needed only casual clothes, but not jeans and a sweatshirt
or clothes that do not fit anymore.
I picked up a pair of pleated, a little darker than khaki that fit around
the waist and are the right length, a couple of new sweaters and 2 new
belts (one black and one brown).
I got home and got assembled.
You're absolutely right! I was looking at a different person than
the one who wears trousers that don’t fit, and the wrong length.
I think I'll make the best first impression I can at the meeting.
Thank you so much.
Sincerely,
-- EZ, NH
p.s. don't worry, I'll wear the right color socks!"
I
have been reading your book, reference style. Here and there, as I become
interested in different topics. The information flows smoothly and is very
interesting. Good job! Hold out for a big signing bonus when you get your
book contract.

If anyone hasn't yet picked up a copy of Andy's Encyclopedia it is
quite a good read and very informative. I am planning to give some
as stocking stuffers next Christmas as a not so subtle hint to the
sartorially challenged on my gift list.
For those with a kid getting ready to graduate from college (and khakis,
jeans, polo shirts, tee shirts, body piercings, purple hair etcetera) to
throw themselves into the dreaded real world where clothes are expected to
be reasonably clean and somewhat well thought out.... this is a great
graduation gift.
Kudos Andy. -- CF, TX
“I received
the CD and am thoroughly satisfied with the content. It is well
worth the money and I will spread the word about your website and book.” --
TW, NY (owner of a custom clothing company)
"I got the encyclopedia this morning thanks! I've been having a
wonderful time reading through it and it's worth every penny. I just
finished the section about kilts. It reminded me of a passage from Douglas
Sutherland's
The English Gentleman, Book Club
Associates, London, 1981, p. 69:
"One Scottish gentleman, on being asked by a coy lady, 'Do tell me, is
there anything worn under your kilt?' replied stiffly, 'Madam, to the best
of my knowledge everything under my kilt is in perfect working order.'"
Thanks again for the wonderful book!"

"An amazing compilation of clothing
information." -- S.C., NJ
"I navigated the CD with no problem, and am having fun looking through
it.
I'm not sophisticated in my clothing knowledge so I was excited finally
to learn what a Blucher was! And, I was really excited when I read
about the loop by the top button on some pants--I thought it was for
decoration all these years, now I know it has a function!"
-- K.F., NY
“I just wanted to
inform you that the CD-rom arrived today and that we opened it easily
from the D-drive.
I have many
fashion books, many of them with hundreds of interesting pages about
women's and men's fashion, but the way you explain things is so customer
oriented and also very efficient. Thank you very much."
