What could cause this to my suit?
I just noticed it. The suit is about two years old and has been worn about a dozen or times and never dry cleaned. Its in about three places which makes me believe its not from me rubbing up against something.Last edited by Butkusrules; February 20th, 2009 at 17:32.

The link doesn't seem to work. Could you post a picture directly to the forum?

That is odd. Only thing I could think of is if a thread got snagged on something and pulled out a bit. It could just be bad fabric, but I couldn't say for sure. Maybe a tailor would know more?

these look for all the world like snags. check the back of your chair at work, also your car, and other places you frequent.

could it be carpet beetles?
spray your closet and check for odd bugs. They damaged all my sweaters at one point and made holes that didn't look anything like moth holes.

I have seen Claiborne suits in a store once look like this sitting on the rack.

Definitely snags
Same thing you get in silk twill ties. You can see either side the darker lines that denote where the pulled thread came from.
Invisible mender might be able to mitigate it, but usually it is an occupational hazard of certain blends and certain very flat weaves.nicks

If the material was cut very sparsely, very close to the seams, and it's not a tight weave (or perhaps just cheap cloth), simply movement/tension could be causing threads to work loose from the seams.
