    Default J. Crew wool vest

    Gents -

I am considering purchasing this $98 houndstooth wool odd vest from J. Crew to wear under my tweed jackets with a tattersall shirt and wool tie. Any opinions on the vest and its quality?

Also, what colour would be more versatile? Brown or charcoal?

    Cheers.

Classic style with the four pockets and nonfunctional button. I want one just like it. I really wish they would either lengthen the waistcoats or heighten their trouser rise, however. Otherwise you get this effect. For something that matches, they sure aren't meant to work well together.

I've heard some scathing opinions of the quality of their coats for the price, but my guess is that something simpler like this is a little less of a risk. Probably fused unless it's unconstructed.

    Default Nice.

Looks great to me. J. Crew fits me great, but I would try to get it on sale. They have a 30% off sale going on right now.

    J. Crew is meant to fit young slim men, if I understand right. I would keep that in mind also.

Brown is more country/county/tweedy/weekend. To be redundant, caveat emptor on the length. Is there a burgundy windowpane?
