Athletic Cut Suits and Jackets
Gentlemen and Brothers of the Cloth)
I am so pleased to have found this site; I expect my education in the finer points of menswear to now grow exponentialy and I thank you as my tutors. So much I could ask and speak on (anyone really fond of white bucs?) but here is a big question of mine.
Outside of made to measure and bespoke items, can anyone advise on a company who does athletic cut well and often and not as a rare afterthought? With a 52l chest and 38w, everything I get off the rack has to but cut up beyond recognition and I am hardly ever pleased with the result. I have pretty much resigned myself to taking the plunge and am waiting for Brooks Brother's made to measure events to come around, but I am holding out hope there may be an acceptable alternative.
Thanks for any advice!

Your measurements are way beyond RTW athletic cuts that accomodate 8 to 10 inch drops. At 14 - you will have to do MTM.

Aside from M2M, there's the possibility of separates, but this will limit you to the bottom range of the spectrum of quality.

Athletic cut
In top-end RTW, try Attolini.
In high-end RTW, some Isaia models are also a good bet.
If you are into designer suits, try Dolce & Gabbana.

What are these RTW which have 8-10 inch drops? I have not found anything that drastic yet, and have been relegated to separates with substantial re-cutting to make a jacket look even slightly nipped at the waist, and MTM. 43-44 jacket (sometimes 46), 33-34 pants (sometimes 32).

You can order athletic-cut (8" drop) RTW Austin Reed suits (a British label, but actually made in the USA under license by Hart, Schaffner & Marx) by calling the Sir Shop in Georgia:

most athletic cuts are an 8" drop. you are a14" drop. m2m is your best bet.
