Travel

Where we'll all learn how
to be a traveler,
NOT a tourist.

It doesn't matter if you're off to the Amazon jungles or spending a weekend in the local Holiday Inn, travel can be fun, exciting and educational.

"We travel, initially, to lose ourselves,
and we travel, next to find ourselves."

-- George Santyana, The Philosophy of Travel

Born to travel.

Part of growing up in a tiny town in Kansas is the desire to leave, so I moved to California as soon as I could!!

I’m always partially packed and ready to travel. My knack for packing light has developed from over-packing experiences.

"Cantabit vacuus coram latrone viator"
"Travel light and you can sing in the robber's face"

-- Juvenal (ca. 50 - 130 AD)

The word "Travel" comes to us from the French word "travailler" meaning "to work hard". You always knew it was labor!!! Let's see if we can take some of the "work" out of it.

We'll take a journey of knowledge. Learning the plane truth about airlines, keeping on track with train travel, and even how to put together a successful road trip John Belushi style.

We'll become skilled at taking it with us with articles on packing tips and the latest on luggage, security, health (including jet lag), and how to have fun at our destination with restaurant and bar recommendations.

"Travel is ninety percent anticipation and
ten percent recollection"

-- Edward Streeter

Here is a recent testimonial about THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MEN'S CLOTHES:

"I received The Encyclopedia of Men's Clothes this afternoon, Andy, and it's terrifically useful! Thank you for explaining how to access the various disk components--your instructions helped me to quickly navigate the book.

I particularly like your logical, straightforward approach to each section. I mean to say, it really makes sense to explain why something matters, then how to care for it once you've chosen to incorporate the thing into your life, and then to include a history of the item, which focuses the reader's attention on its intrinsic value to a gentleman's kit.

Your book is more useful than Esquire's Encyclopedia of 20th-Century Men's Fashions, because the latter serves as a chronicle not a guide. The Encyclopedia of Men's Clothes provides a road map for fellows who wish to understand the choices they make, and who wish to make choices they understand. I am simply delighted with your book!"
-- J. de M. NM
