My Oxxford Suit!

It's a Super 100's from Scabal

http://www.oxxfordclothes.com/

Jacob and Louis Weinberg founded Oxxford Clothes in 1916 to create a standard for comparison in the field of men's tailored clothing. The Weinberg's determined that no possible fineness in craftsmanship or material shall be overlooked in the achievement of our purpose.

In each field of human endeavor, there is one who serves as the inspiration for his entire group. Today, Oxxford Clothes holds this enviable position in the clothing industry.

Oxxford Clothes is the finest and only hand made clothing that you can buy today. You are absolutely assured that, when wearing Oxxford, you could not possibly be better dressed, a net result that is instantly apparent in discerning company.

Oxxford has a very unique method of constructing the armhole. So unique in fact that several Savile Row tailors that have come to visit had never even seen this technique.

It is very important to maintain the integrity of the size/shape of the armhole because the sleeve is designed to fit the armhole with a certain amount of ease.

Due to the nature of the armhole being bias it has a tendency to stretch thus distorting it, then the sleeve doesn't fit as designed and it affects the entire balance of the coat.

The most common method to maintain the armhole is to sew a cotton tape into the armhole, but in many cases the execution of this operation alters the shape of the armhole.

We prefer to maintain the armhole by sewing in a chain-link like stitch by hand. It doesn't distort the shape but most importantly is that under stress (moving your arms, etc) the nature of the link stitch allows it to have a tremendous amount of "give" while returning to it's original placement during repose. The thread used is 100% silk which tends to be very resilient.

As you can imagine an armhole with a tape sewn will not give at all and tends to be very rigid.

When a client complains about a pinching feeling in the armhole or tightness in a taped armhole it is very common for the tailor or seller to actually tug on the armhole in order to break or rip the tape in order to release the tension. Not a preferred method but very common.

For me this is one of the best and most beneficial features in an Oxxford coat. It provides the wearer with a very supple armhole that will conform to the wearer over time.

Other details and a secret!

Trouser Waistband
step2

An Oxxford trouser has a patented one-piece waistband. The purpose of the waistband and pocket being cut of the same cloth is to provide a seamless appearance and allow the weight of objects placed in the pockets to be distributed across the entire waistband.

This maintains a stream-lined appearance, regardless of the items in your pockets.

Please note the security pocket on the inside right side of the waistband. This secret pocket is ideal for money clips, cell phones and other valuables.

Here is a recent testimonial about THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MEN'S CLOTHES:

"I received The Encyclopedia of Men's Clothes this afternoon, Andy, and it's terrifically useful! Thank you for explaining how to access the various disk components--your instructions helped me to quickly navigate the book.

I particularly like your logical, straightforward approach to each section. I mean to say, it really makes sense to explain why something matters, then how to care for it once you've chosen to incorporate the thing into your life, and then to include a history of the item, which focuses the reader's attention on its intrinsic value to a gentleman's kit.

Your book is more useful than Esquire's Encyclopedia of 20th-Century Men's Fashions, because the latter serves as a chronicle not a guide. The Encyclopedia of Men's Clothes provides a road map for fellows who wish to understand the choices they make, and who wish to make choices they understand. I am simply delighted with your book!"
